The HQ building, a 245,000sqm, 52 story mixed use development, is the tallest tower block in Jeddah and has an iconic design that dominates the Jeddah Corniche landscape. As the HQ building does not have a SEC grid connection, the design of the Energy Center installation by CES Energy was critical. This innovative system was fully designed from its Irish head office in conjunction with its Saudi engineering resources. The energy will be supplied on a BOOT (build own operate and transfer) contract for 25 years and will also operate and maintain the energy center for the 25-year concession contract giving certainty to the developer in terms of energy and utilities supply. The total project value is stated to be $150 million.
Tom Marren, managing director, CES Energy said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a strategic project as the HQ building. We see huge growth in the Gulf region and we will require additional engineering and project management staff for our offices in Dublin, Jeddah and Qatar.”
Commenting on progress to date the minister said: “CES Energy is a highly innovative company with strong market awareness. This is a highly significant contract won by an ambitious company — it’s an indicator of the world-class standard and reputation of Irish products and services.”
