“An employee will have the right to get paid holidays of not less than 10 days and not more than 15 days, including Eid Al-Adha holidays, to perform Haj once in his service period, if he has not performed the religious duty before,” said Hattab Al-Anazi.
“This is a right of the employee in accordance with Article 114 of the Labor Law,” the spokesman said, adding that the worker should have spent at least two years continuously with the present employer to get this benefit.
Al-Anazi, however, pointed out that the employer would have the discretion to decide on how many employees be given leave to perform Haj in a year based on the work requirements.
He said employees working in private companies would have the right to enjoy four-day Eid Al-Adha holidays, beginning from the Arafat Day, Dul Hijjah 9.
“In accordance with Article 112 of the Labor Law, private companies have to give four days break to mark Eid Al-Adha festival,” said Al-Anazi.
“The law has mentioned the minimum days which should not be reduced,” he said. “If there is an agreement between the company and workers on increasing the number of Eid holidays it should be taken into consideration,” he added.
