Outlets in some Islamic and Arab countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia give pilgrims a head start on the procedures and the information they need during Haj.
To keep pilgrims connected to their homes, Vice President Corporate Communication and Public Relations Humoud Al-Ghobaini said 70 fixed and mobile towers connected by a fiber-optic network were added this year in addition to the existing towers.
Mobily conducts technical studies after each pilgrimage season, and selects heavy pilgrimage residences for placing towers.
“The inner area of the train stations will also be covered with a special fiber-optic network which is capable to pass pilgrims’ calls from within the train station as all train stations are expected to working with full capacity this year,” says Al-Ghobaini.
The Mobily VP expects that the fiber optic network, which connects all fixed and mobile towers at the holy sites including the Jamrat Bridge, will succeed in transferring millions of calls in view of its ability to carry a lot of signals faster than regular wire, in addition to its high quality that stops overlapping of signals transmitted through fiber in a single contiguous cord, which ensures high clarity of the transmitted signal.
On the other hand, Mobily is working in collaboration with pilgrimage campaigns and other related governmental bodies and private institutions serving the pilgrims.
Its strategy, which is based on its social duties, affirmed on social aspects, the need for effective participation and be a successful partner in all social activities.
The actual readiness to serve the pilgrims had begun at various levels with the conclusion of the pilgrimage last year.
“Mobily is keen to be as close as possible to its subscribers and pilgrims, which resulted in setting up new outlets for sales and services in Makkah and Madinah,” says Al-Ghobaini.
Mobily also launches various media awareness campaigns such as “Haj is a worship and civilized behavior” campaign, aiming to raise the sacred culture of the country during both the Haj and Umrah seasons among pilgrims, service providers and all members of society.
It is also sponsoring a “Bunyan” show and through its stands it is showcasing Madinah history, to contribute to raise the cultural awareness and guidelines of the citizens and residents working in the field of Haj.
There are a bunch of services and applications provided by Mobily exclusively for pilgrims such as “Haj Guide,” “Labaik 2” services, which are considered as th pilgrim’s companion during his trip to the House of God.
“The rich contents of Islamic jurisprudence show the pilgrim how to perform Haj correctly, along with many guidelines showing how the pilgrim should be and what he should do, as well as audio and video teachings and hadiths,” Al-Ghobaini added.
