Telecom traffic visibly increased this Haj, says STC chief

Al-Daweesh also revealed that his group’s plan to manage telecommunications traffic to and from Makkah, the holy sites and countries around the world was successful.
This year’s Haj also witnessed a high demand for various telecommunications services and a high traffic was noticed during the peak  days of Haj such as the Arafat Day and the first day of Eid.
Following his tour of the company’s various locations in Mina during Eid, Al-Daweesh confirmed that there is a visible increase in telecommunications traffic over the years.
He mentioned that the usage of data, data transfer, and usage of mobile and fixed Internet networks increased fivefold over the last year. Many guests also took a keen interest in fiber optic options, and 3G advanced services. The company launched for the first time the 4G services in the holy sites.
“STC puts all of its sectors into service in order to achieve high synergies and success rates during the season,” he said.
“These plans are harmonious with and complement the government’s various sectors and other agencies working for the comfort of the guests,” he said.

We also make use of the group’s technical capabilities and experience to cope with the government’s mega projects in Makkah and Mina, such as the continuous expansion of the Haram, Mashair Railway and others, providing the upgraded schemes with highly advanced telecommunications services.”
