The Blackhawks broke a three-game losing streak with
their highest scoring game of the season.
Andrew Brunette , Steve Montador , Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa also had goals for
Chicago, which lost 3-0 at St. Louis on Tuesday. Montador added an assist, and
Nick Leddy and Brent Seabrook both
had two assists. Corey Crawford
made 27 saves.
The Blue Jackets fell to 2-12-1, by far the worst record
in the NHL. They have lost three in a row and been outscored 19-6.
Grant Clitsome had a career-best two goals, and newly
acquired Mark Letestu also scored for the Blue Jackets. Rick Nash earned his
500th NHL point with an assist on Letestu's goal.
In Boston, Brad Marchand scored
twice, Tyler Seguin had a goal and an assist, and Boston won its fourth
straight by beating Edmonton.
Joe Corvo had three assists, and Jordan Caron scored his first goal of the season for
Boston (7-7). The Stanley Cup champion Bruins are at .500 for the first time
since they were 1-1.
Ryan Smyth
scored twice for Edmonton, including a power-play goal that got the
Oilers within 4-3 with 4:42 left, but Milan Lucic answered on the power play for Boston with 2:47 remaining.
Lucic has scored in five straight games.
Marchand added an unassisted goal 34 seconds later,
giving Boston 24 goals during its longest winning streak of the season.
The Bruins have beaten the Oilers 10 straight times.
In St. Louis, Phil
Kessel scored the lone shootout
goal for Toronto, and Ben Scrivens
stopped all three St. Louis shooters in a victory over the Blues.
John-Michael Liles
and Kessel scored first-period, power-play goals, and Scrivens made 37
saves for Toronto. Tyler Bozak
added a pair of assists.
The Blues got goals from Jason Arnott and Patrik
Berglund. Jaroslav Halak stopped
20 shots.
The Maple Leafs took advantage of undisciplined penalties
by the Blues in the first period, scoring on two of three power-play chances.
Kessel netted his NHL-leading 12th goal of the season.
In Winnipeg, ManitobaKris
Versteeg had three goals and an
assist, and Florida bolstered its already strong start with a victory over
Winnipeg.
Jason Garrison
and Mike Santorelli also scored to help Florida (8-4-3) build a 4-0 lead
after two periods. Brian Campbell
added three assists as the Panthers won their second consecutive game
and stretched their point streak to six games.
Tim Stapleton
and Andrew Ladd had goals
for the Jets (5-8-3), who were sluggish and unable to mount an attack in the
first two periods. Coming off a season-high, seven-game road trip, Winnipeg
went more than 23 minutes without a shot during one span, and had only 10 shots
through two periods.
Jets coach Claude Noel kept starting goalie Ondrej
Pavelec on the bench for the third period after he allowed four goals on 15
shots, replacing him with Peter Mannino .
In Glendale, Arizona, Josh
Gorges scored 1:45 into overtime
and Montreal edged Phoenix.
Brian Gionta had a goal and an assist, and Travis
Moen also scored for the
Canadiens, who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Mikkel Boedker
and Raffi Torres scored for the Coyotes, who lost for the second time in
three games but have earned points in seven of eight.
The Canadiens were playing without left wing Michael
Cammalleri, who hurt his knee Tuesday against Edmonton.
In Denver, Kyle Quincey
scored a power-play goal 2:39 into overtime and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 30
saves, helping Colorado rally from a three-goal deficit and beat the slumping
New York Islanders.
With the Avalanche on the advantage following a
high-sticking penalty against goalie Al Montoya, Quincey sent a shot in from
near the blue line.
Paul Stastny, Milan Hejduk and Jan Hejda added goals for the Avalanche, who
snapped a four-game losing streak (0-3-1).
Josh Bailey , Brian Rolston and Michael Grabner
scored for the Islanders, who led 3-0 until the final minute of the
second period.
In San Jose, Patrick Marleau scored two
power-play goals in the second period, and San Jose snapped Minnesota's
five-game winning streak.
Torrey Mitchell
also scored in the second period for the Sharks, who have won eight of
nine. Antii Niemi stopped 21 shots and remained undefeated in four games
against the Wild.
Kyle Brodziak scored Minnesota's lone goal.
Niklas Backstrom , who recorded his first shutout of the
season in a 3-0 win at Calgary on Tuesday, made 33 saves but fell to 1-6-1 in
San Jose.
Dany Heatley
and Devin Setoguchi
combined for one shot in their first visit to San Jose since being
traded to the Wild.
In Los Angeles, Sami Salo and Andrew
Ebbett scored power-play goals in the opening minutes, and Roberto Luongo made
28 saves in Vancouver's victory over Los Angeles.
Aaron Rome
also scored in the first period of the defending Western Conference
champion Canucks' fifth stop on a six-game trip that ends Friday in Anaheim.
Vancouver has won eight of its last 11 regular-season meetings with the Kings,
also knocking them out of the 2010 playoffs.
Drew Doughty
scored and Jonathan Quick stopped 29 shots for Los Angeles. Mike
Richards added a goal while Quick was pulled for an extra attacker with 1:10 to
play, but Vancouver held on.
