Monday’s attack was the second this month and the eighth on the pipeline since the popular uprising that ousted longtime Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak in February.
MENA says assailants detonated explosives along the line that transports natural gas near the town of El-Arish in northern Sinai. The blasts caused two huge fires.
MENA says the main valves at the terminal were immediately turned off and the fire was under control, but exports to Jordan and Israel were halted, as was the flow of gas to local homes and industries.
