Men like nice things too. They often claim to be practical, but when truth be told, you find they have their very own list of luxury that they lust for. Usually these “necessities” (as they often argue), range from a fast sports car, pretentious pen, or something high-tech and absolutely unnecessary, like a gold-plated, diamond-encrusted, Vertu phone with a built-in SOS button in case you find yourself stranded on the island in LOST. And yet, they love to complain that we spend too much on frivolous things.
But we women are also hypocrites. We may complain at the unfair balance between the cost of our splurge at Dior versus his at the Bentley dealership, yet secretly, we welcome it. We love a man who has style; even more, a man who knows how to accessorize his confidence with just the right amount of effortless self-indulgence.
With only two to three business days for items to get shipped right to your door, there’s no longer any excuse for you to be sporting the same Vilebrequin swimming trunks for three consecutive summers!
Arab News got a chance to talk exclusively with Jeremy Langmead, editor in chief for net-a-porter’s male counterpart, MR PORTER, to discover what’s on the style guru’s holiday wish list because nothing works better to mollify our husbands’ horror at discovering how much we spent on our New Year’s Eve outfits than Lanvin cufflinks. Langmead reveals what men should pack for their holiday getaways — hopefully, it’s just the bare necessities, leaving the ladies extra room for more shoes!

I think you just adapt the colors and the shapes, but wear much lighter fabrics. Trends such as the shorter trouser, slim-fitting jacket, striped tops and tasseled loafers can all work well in a warmer setting. And, there are quite a few creams and whites around this winter that work perfectly in a hot climate. Even the plethora of cable knit sweaters this season will work for you, as everywhere is so heavily air-conditioned. The only thing you’ll have to miss out on are the coats — and I will give up a coat or two to live in a hot climate any day.

On the whole, yes, it does look smarter. But it depends on the belt and shoes really — and how you’re wearing them. Rules are very useful, but if you have great style and confidence, you can wear most things in any way you want to wear them.

A navy blazer. It’s the most versatile item in a man’s wardrobe. You can dress them up or down, and throw one almost over everything. There is barely a single occasion where a navy blazer won’t look just right.

Orlebar Brown swim shorts at a beach resort, Canada Goose bomber jacket for the cabin, and black John Lobb loafers for the city.
