Scammer held for SR1.9m fraud

Police were tipped off by a Saudi man who had filed a complaint alleging that a recruiting agent had taken SR8,000 in visa and agency fees for the recruitment of a housemaid from Cambodia and fled. According to the man, he was initially told that there would be some delays in bringing the maid to the Kingdom but after 3 months had passed, the man discovered that the recruitment office's telephone lines had been cut and its office shuttered.
Police caught up with the fraudster after hearing of a newly-established recruitment office in another part of Riyadh. The fraudster was arrested and upon investigation, it was revealed that he had duped hundreds of other citizens under similar circumstances
According to police, dozens of victims have come forward and identified the suspect. Police warned the public not to deal with unlicensed companies.
