Nadia Bakhurji named secretary-general of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation

Members of the board included Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, vice chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, Nada Al Sugair, executive director finance and administration, Muna Abu Sulayman, former secretary-general of the foundation and Sheikh Ali Al-Nashwan, religious adviser.
The discussions focused on the current projects of Alwaleed Foundation, future strategic plans to develop existing projects and introduce new ones. In addition, the board members touched upon the overall impact of the activities of the foundation on alleviating poverty, responding to natural disasters, and the promotion of cultural initiatives.
The Board of Trustees, in the meeting, approved Nadia Bakhurji’s appointment  as Secretary-General to Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation. Bakhurji commented: “I am truly honored to have been appointed to this important role and pray that through my position as secretary-general I can provide the leadership and support to take our noble foundation to new heights and successes both nationally and globally. With the foundation’s key leadership and support and our teamwork I feel positive that we will achieve amazing things InshAllah.”
Princess Ameerah said: “Nadia Bakhurji has been appointed as secretary-general of Alwaleed Foundation. She has been chosen for her passion for the field of philanthropy and her successful leadership background. As vice chairwoman, I welcome Bakhurji to Alwaleed Foundation. Under the leadership of Prince Alwaleed and the board members, we have full confidence in Bakhurji’s ability to succeed in the service of the foundation locally and globally.”
In the past 30 years of charity and humanitarian work Prince Alwaleed has donated approximately SR10 billion to this cause.
The foundation encourages and supports organizations, studies, and academic centers focusing on empowering Saudi women, alleviating poverty, upgrading services provided to the population, and other social infrastructure issues that face the country.
The foundation is also directly involved in major projects that provide direct aid to the citizens of Saudi Arabia ranging from medical aid to housing where hundreds of housing units have been provided to poor families as part of a 10-year project. Other projects the foundation is involved in include the distribution of electric generators to remote villages and, printing and the translation of the holy Qur’an into13 languages.
