There were no cases of divorce reported from among 98 percent of the newly married couples who had completed the training course from the Buraidah-based Osra Society for Marriage and Family Care, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported Thursday.
Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Saif, director of Osra, said the training course enables newly married couples to gain a deep understanding about the basic components of a happy married life and apply them to their lives together.
“The course focuses on teaching newly married couples on how to behave respectfully and decently in a way fulfilling their religious and social obligations. We also inculcate in them basic skills to develop feelings of love among the couples, as well as to make them aware of their rights and duties and the way to solve family problems in an amicable way,” he said.
Muhammad Al-Jamaan, a specialist in family awareness and a community consultant at Osra, said the society’s training program focuses on how to develop feelings of love among the couples and help them tackle family problems through fostering a proper understanding of each other.
“Such an initiative based on bolstering bonds of love would help evaporate any types of problems among the couples irrespective of their intensity. A lack of mutual understanding among the couples is one of the major causes leading to break-up of marriages,” he said.
“The survival of a happily married life is based on a strong pillar of love. If that pillar collapses, the marriage would not survive any longer,” he said.
Al-Saif has urged newly married couples to join the society’s free training program. The new session of the three-day course will begin Saturday and will be facilitated by the Rehabilitation and Training Center at Osra located in the Al-Baseeriya district in Buraidah.
Osra, which has garnered accolades from various sections of Saudi society, has also won an ISO certification.
