The Hawwah Office for Women’s Liaison Work is first of its kind in the Kingdom.
The office will help Saudi women to get their papers processed from government departments such as ministries, passport department, civil status department and from private establishments, as well as performing other functions.
“The presence of women to serve women is significant especially under the rule of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah who enabled Saudi women for the first time to become a partner in the economic, social and cultural development of the society,” the princess said.
She also wished success for the working team in the office, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
The princess commended the idea of establishing an office exclusively to serve women and which will also take on its shoulders the task of enlightening Saudi women about their rights and obligations determined by the Kingdom’s law. She also appreciated the office’s sense of commitment and willingness to offer services to poor women without a fee.
Director of the office Sahar Al-Bandar said in her welcome address that the office aims to familiarize Saudi women about the formalities to be completed in government and private offices in addition to giving advice on such matters. It will also strive to improve the quality of service being offered to Saudi women, she said.
She added that she met with appreciation and cooperation from various ministries and government departments she visited as part of her service. She also thanked the princess for opening the office.
The princess donated the expenses to print booklets explaining the rights of women. The booklets will be distributed in all provinces.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Supervision of Civil Status at the Interior Ministry Hessah Al-Sulaih expressed her satisfaction at the opening of the office in line with many recommendations made at seminars and conferences to discuss women’s issues. “The new office will minimize the time and effort a woman needs to complete her formalities from government offices.”
She also hoped that the new office will serve as a vital link between women and government departments.
Head of Women’s department at the National Committee for Childhood Hind Al-Thomairi, who spoke on the occasion, said society is in need of more centers that supply correct information and offer advice on right steps to be taken by women to get their important errands done. She also thanked the princess for her concern for the welfare of Saudi women.
A number of prominent women and academics attended the function organized at the head office in Riyadh’s Al-Dabab Street.
