This is probably why he was also hesitant to accept Al-Hilal's offer. To his defense, he managed the Dubai-based team from 2007 to 2009 and was able take them to the World Cup of Clubs finals in Abu Dhabi during that period.
The 49-year-old Hasek comes from a footballing family. He played as a midfielder and captained the Czechoslovakian national team during the 1990 FIFA World Cup. His team won five Czechoslovakia leagues and three cups during. He was awarded Player-of-the-Year award twice and eventually became the team's coach, managing the Czech national team in 2009. During this short period of time, he also became the President of the Football Association of Czech Republic.
Hasek, who is not new in the Middle East region, has an impressive coaching career. To name a few of his achievements: Sparta Prague, winning the Czech league thrice. Ahli Dubai won two league championships and the UAE Super Cup.
Seems to me, that Hasek will be a great improvement from Doll who is a good riddance for Al-Hilal. But then again, we do not know for certain, if his camaraderie with Hilal will be as effective as with other teams. Immense pressure will be on his shoulders and all eyes will be on him on Feb. 10 when Hilal takes on Al-Ittifaq of Dammam in the Crown Prince Cup final. Hilal fans are hoping that Hasek's credentials are enough to speak for himself and will not disappoint them. Let us see!
