Speaking at a press conference in Alkhobar after receiving the honor, Al-Zamil, who won the “Woman in Society Development Excellence Award,” thanked the wife of Eastern Province Gov. Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Princess Jawaher bint Naif and the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation for supporting her charity association.
“We are grateful and thankful to Princess Jawaher for her support to our association because we would not have achieved this success without her. We also thank the Alwaleed Foundation for introducing our association’s programs to the award committee, leading to us receiving this recognition,” she said.
“We appreciate the efforts and cooperation of all our well-wishers, association employees, government officials and the private sector, who worked closely with us since the association was founded three years ago.”
Talking about her charity association, she said: “We have 10 different departments working in various fields. We have so far helped more than 1,500 families located in three Alkhobar neighborhoods. We help these families to be more self-reliant by giving them training and organizing lectures.”
Al-Zamil said the association plans to launch many new programs soon. “We want to create a center for the elderly people to help them in all aspects of their lives,” she said.
She pointed out that the association has so far trained 30 Saudi girls in electrician work, painting and plumbing. “These girls will now be ready to help poor families. There will be a call center where needy families can ask for help,” said Zainab Abdul Ghafoor, head of education and family guidance at the association.
“We are working on a directory called Ana Maujood to help physically challenged people find the places that are important and crucial to them,” said Ibtisam Al-Sheikh, head of health and environment at the association.
