More than 80 Saudi and international companies will participate in the exhibition, which will be held under the patronage of Sanad Charity Society’s Chairperson Princess Adela bint Abdullah.
The three-day event will showcase the latest designs of gold ornaments, jewelry, and rare watches over an exhibition area of 2,500 square meters.
Speaking to Arab News, Batterjee said the participation of chamber officials at the opening session is part of its comprehensive strategy to support all activities and functions aimed at boosting the Kingdom’s economy and transforming Jeddah into a pivotal economic hub in the Middle East region.
He also drew attention to the major role played by concerned authorities in the Kingdom in promoting the manufacturing of special brand designs of gold ornaments and jewels that have become popular throughout the world.
“As part of promoting the gold industry and encouraging talented designers, the Kingdom is holding an annual competition called "Golden Feather" for the best designs of gold ornaments and jewelry.
The Kingdom’s lowering of customs tariffs on gold and jewelry two years ago was also instrumental in further boosting the local gold industry,” he said. Batterjee said the fair is expected to draw a broad section of Saudi society, including foreigners, in the wake of the growing demand for gold ornaments and jewelry as well as precious watches and gifts.
The Kingdom ranks fourth in the world and first in the Arab world in the consumption of gold and jewelry. According to organizers of the event, several leading Saudi and international companies in the field of gold ornaments and precious watches from a number of countries, including the United States, Japan, China, India, and Sri Lanka as well as from European and Arab countries will display their latest designs, especially new brands of watches studded with diamonds, pearls and precious stones at the fair.
