The agreement was signed by Abdullatif bin Abdulrahman Al-Harthy, deputy minister of justice, at the TVTC headquarters. On behalf of TVTC, the accord was inked by TVTC Gov. Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafis. According to the agreement, the Ministry of Justice will pay about SR25 million to the TVTC for imparting training and necessary skills to the ministry's workers in different streams.
"The agreement further stipulates the TVTC will undertake training of the ministry’s personnel in different parts of the Kingdom," said Al-Harthy, addressing reporters after signing the deal. He said this cooperation agreement would go a long way in improving skills and capacity.
"This will involve ensuring the TVTC training system provides adequate and relevant training to equip our workers with the skills they require," said the deputy minister. "There is a need to educate ourselves and to impart training to make our workers adaptable and able to use new skills, gadgets and technologies," he added.
Replying to a question about the move to train the employees of the Ministry of Justice, Al-Ghafis said: "The TVTC had similar training cooperation programs with several local and international organizations. Further increasing skills and educational attainment will be important in improving the productivity of Saudi nationals and will help in labor force participation."
"As the world around us continues to change rapidly, especially in terms of technology, efficient and effective training systems will become more important," he added. "Current and future workers will need to improve and continually update their skills levels," said the TVTC governor, while referring to the training programs for Ministry of Justice personnel.
According to the deal, the TVTC will train employees of the Ministry of Justice in certain areas such as IT, management and a few more skills. The total number of trainees currently enrolled at the TVTC colleges and institutes across the Kingdom exceeds 161,000. Providing skilled labor to industry, the TVTC is at the heart of vocational training in the Kingdom.
The TVTC's activities include the operation of several colleges of technology across the Kingdom, running mainly two-year courses in subjects such as engineering technology, production, electronics, manufacturing and computing. The TVTC is the Saudi government's leading provider of training.
The TVTC, which maintains links with all major countries providing expertise in technical and vocational education and training, has been playing a major role in the localization of the work force. It has tie-ups with several institutions of Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Britain, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United States.
