On Friday, Sibug made the big leap from being a monthly winner several times to a major champion when he won the inaugural BMW InterContinental Golf Championship 2012 in harsh weather conditions.
Sibug, a mechanical engineer by profession and area manager at Saudi TKT, crafted a 2-under net score of 54 on the City Center layout despite the severe sandstorm that reduced visibility in the Kingdom’s capital city.
The two-day tournament attracted over 100 players of 15 different nationalities. Players from all over the Kingdom came to Riyadh to participate in this prestigious golfing event. The course was in excellent condition, greens were fast and the pin positions were exceptionally challenging even for the well experienced players.
During the awards ceremony InterCon Recreation Manager Mounir Melliti thanked the sponsor and players for their great support. Baby Joseph, assistant golf manager, organized the tournament in association with the club’s golf professional Anwar Naz.
An official representative of Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors thanked the players and awarded the prizes to the winners. All the winners received BMW crystal trophies and name brand golf equipment.
Anees Jamjoom, Managing Director of BMW Group at Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, said, “The sport of golf is an important activity in our marketing strategy that comes from the global direction that BMW follows on the global level. It is in line with the BMW brand’s position in terms of exclusivity and luxury, which characterizes the golf sport and its followers’ lifestyle.”
The overall champion Sibug took home a Callaway RazrX Black golf set and BMW crystal trophy of the championship. Sibug doubled his joy when he also bagged the Best Gross prize.
