The promotion, which is likely to attract crowds of customers for a range of food products for sale on discounted prices at Lulu Hypermarkets in Riyadh and Alkhobar, will end on May 15.
Abdulrazak Antar Anazi, a member of the Riyadh Municipal Council, inaugurated the food festival in the Saudi capital, whereas the event in Alkhobar was opened by Abdul Rahman Al-Homyan, secretary general of the Eastern Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening.
Anazi cut a huge pizza designed and cooked like a cake to open the food fiesta officially in Riyadh. A large number of customers, especially cuisine lovers, gathered to see this exceptionally large pizza, whose diameter exceeded five meters.
Lulu Alkhobar came out with another attraction on this occasion by creating a huge cake as part of this event. The second day of the festival (May 3) was celebrated as "Biryani Day" in both stores in Riyadh and Alkhobar.
Shehim Mohammed Unni, Lulu's regional director, said that Lulu Hypermarkets in Riyadh and Alkhobar would celebrate May 10 as “Taste of Arabia Day.” On this occasion, a wide range of authentic Arabic traditional food and sweets will be exhibited and sold, he added.
Shehim said the hypermarkets would conduct a cooking contest on May 10. The competition, part of the food fiesta, will be open for three categories: vegetarian dishes, nonvegetarian dishes and desserts. Raffle draws will also be conducted by Lulu's partners, like Kohinoor, Lipton and Afia Oil, during the festival period.
Shehim said the company would also be conducting a "Scratch and Win Promotion" for their customers to mark the opening of its 100th store in GCC.
