The Rabigh Spring Festival, which kicked off under the patronage of Rabigh Gov. Taha bin Omar on Saturday, attracted more than 30,000 visitors in a bid to promote domestic tourism and strengthen strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors.
The festival is sponsored by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) with the cooperation of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), the local municipality and other government authorities.
The week-long festival will provide visitors with various forms of entertainment, including sports activities, information on regional tourism, cultural and traditional folklore, a circus, fireworks, children’s programs, poetry readings and various competitions.
Omar said that the festival, which attracts more than 5,000 visitors a day, has been organized for the first time in Rabigh and would boost tourism in the region.
“We are expecting visitors from around the Kingdom, which will also help in promoting business opportunities and developing multiple job opportunities for youth,” said Omar.
Saleh Kamel, JCCI chairman, emphasized support for the festival’s educational activities, which he said has added value to tourism and economic activity.
Kamel also said that the JCCI oversees the festival and other events that take place in the region to ensure economic development across various sectors.
He urged business communities to come forward and participate in the festival to open new doors of opportunities for youth. He also urged investment in the tourism sector and emphasized the importance of such festivals in enriching the arena of tourism and investment in the Kingdom.
Adnan Mandoura, JCCI secretary-general, reaffirmed that such festivals will help boost the national economy.
