Top seeds Reza Chemical and Sadafco played true to form and set up a showdown for the Inter-Company Non-Rated championship in the Evening Division in the OFBL 5th Conference at Timeout Sports Academy Gymnasium on Television St. , Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.
Reza, the No. 1 with a twice to beat edge after topping the eliminations at 5-0, took some doing before ousting fourth qualifier Jameel Renewed 99-98 in the crossover knockout semifinal matchup.
Reza’s victory came after No. 2 Sadafco easily disposed of Awdah 86-67.
The Friday Morning Games had Alwajan and Jeddah Lions both qualifying at No. 3 in Bracket C and Bracket B respectively.
Alwahjan dominated RSGT to score an 88-78 victory while the Lions overwhelmed KAAU 81-57.
Jamjoom Pharma and Saudi Oger are the other semifinalists in Bracket C at No. 1 and No. 4 respectively.
Sadafco played marvelous basketball to insure its place in the final opposite Reza.
Sadafco had little trouble offensively and defensively in each of the four quarters.
Cutamura had a high field goal percentage performance to lead Sadafco with 27 points. He was supported by Banag, who had 15 points including 3 3-pointers, Defensor with 14 points, Nemitz Dangao with 11 points.
Guard Fuentes headed Awdah with 19 points. Sanchez added 17 points and Toledo 10 points.
Reza had been in control and led by as many as 10 points early in the first quarter.
But Jameel made Reza work hard for its spot in the final, clawing back into the game and giving itself chance at victory in the dying seconds.
With Reza ahead by 3 points, Teddy Jamahali launched a desperation shot from beyond the arc that missed but he drew a foul. Instead of hitting all three free throws to send the game to overtime, Jamahali missed one freebie allowing Reza to escape with the victory.
Abulencia top-scored for Reza with 35 points, followed by Reloj 24, Rosero 18 and Abella 10 points.
Jamahali led Jameel’s losing cause with 36 points, Mcadulay had 16 and Srey 15 points.
The Lions never gave KAAU a chance all game long to finish pulling away.
Brosoto and Taguim shared scoring honors for the Lions with 15 points apiece. Tondo tallied 13 points and Alodino 7 points.
Collette and Cabizera scored 21 and 19 points at the helm of KAAU.
