I appreciate the Shoura Council for calling for a probe into the delay in the completion of the Haramain Railway project. The report “Haramain project irregularities: Shoura seeks probe” (June 4) shows that the higher authorities will show zero tolerance toward any kind of corruption. Saudi Arabia has all the resources to carry out any huge project but due to corruption and negligence, the Kingdom is yet to achieve the status that it should have achieved long ago.
The authorities should take stringent measures to rein in corruption to transform Saudi Arabia into one of the most modern countries of the world. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) is doing a commendable job. The Nazaha should also make arrangements for the masses to report any type of corruption at the grass-roots level. This step will involve the public and will prove to be very effective in rooting out corruption from the society. — Lala, Jeddah
