Al-Hekma university holds first scientific research forum

Dar Al-Hekma University organized the first scientific research forum for its students. Held in the university campus from Jan. 28-29, the forum showcased Al-Hekma students’ achievements, featuring more than 50 presentations, 12 poster presentations, 11 videos, animations and documentaries and more than 200 artworks.
“Innovative scientific research is the most important pillar of sustainable and comprehensive community development. There is no doubt of the important role the educational institutions play in enabling and activating the progress of scientific research in all aspects. Implanting the concept in the early stages of education is highly important to start a culture that thrives on research,” said Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi, the president of Dar Al-Hekma University.
“Therefore, Dar Al-Hekma University integrated scientific research in the heart of its educational strategy and we made it part of our mission to graduate accomplished women, leaders and entrepreneurs. The requirements of leadership and entrepreneurship in building a civilization are the merit in all the aspects in building a society that rank along developed nations. This only will be achieved through access to diverse scientific research that meets the needs of the developing and changing society, whether in the fields of humanities or scientific, technical and engineering fields,” she added.
The Director for Scientific Research Center Dr. Khawla Zahran organized the forum and facilitated all the displayed projects and presentations. After the opening remark by Dr. Zahran, Dr. Areej Alasseri, the provost, and Dr. Effat Fadag, the dean of Dar Al-Hekma School of Design and Architecture, gave a short and motivational speech addressing the students. Right after the opening ceremony, the research presentation took off in three lecture halls simultaneously.
Dar Al- Hekma University organized the forum as preparation to Ministry of Higher Education’s Sixth Forum for Students in Higher Education. Students participated in the forum by submitting research papers and artwork on the following categories: innovation, community service, engineering, humanities, documentaries and creative art work such as drawing, painting, caricature, calligraphy, digital art and photography. Elocution and giving public speeches was also another category.
Dar Al- Hekma University will be participating in MOHE’s Sixth Forum for Students in Higher Education that will be held end of March beginning of April, 2015. This forum will give students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels an opportunity to introduce their research and creative work through research papers, reports, posters, exhibits and oral presentations similar to professional presentations held at prominent academic conferences.
