JEDDAH: Saudi comedian actor Nasser Al-Qassabi may soon land a role in a Bollywood film.
The “Selfie” actor and creator received a phone call from Bollywood acting legend Amitabh Bachchan two hours after his hit Ramadan TV series “Selfie” aired on Saturday (July 4).
Bachchan wants Nasser to star in a movie with him; can you imagine our Saudi funnyman putting on some of Bollywood’s famed Indian dance moves?
Nasser made the exciting announcement to his 897,000 followers on Twitter: “I’ve just received a phone call from the legendary Indian movie star Amitabh Bachchan. He praised me for tonight’s ‘Selfie’ episode and asked me to star in a movie with him.”
While thousands of Nasser’s fans celebrated his potential Bollywood debut, a few thousand others were skeptical, demanding that he posts the recorded phone call with Bachchan for authenticity.
The same skeptics were doubtful that someone of Bachchan’s international status would call an actor only well-known in the Arab world.
“Selfie” received international attention after Nasser mocked Daesh in the starting episodes of the series. As a result, he was branded an apostate and even threatened to get his head chopped off by Daesh.
