JEDDAH: A Saudi soldier was martyred on the border in Jazan early Wednesday morning, when the security post came under intense fire from Yemen’s territories.
Hamad bin Ali Hassan Al-Kaabi laid down his life fighting for the nation, said Interior Ministry spokesman Gen. Mansour Al-Turki. “The firing occurred around 4 a.m., and the border patrol responded. The soldier was martyred during the exchange of fire.”
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels have been weakened by the coalition air raids led by Saudi Arabia and tactical moves of the National Army along with the popular resistance in Yemen.
Three airstrikes were carried out on Sanaa International Airport and Al-Dulaimi airbase recently. The airbase has come under repeated attacks by the coalition since the beginning of the operation in March.
Popular resistance forces have captured the Thabat area in Taez and the Al-Jahmaliyah area.
The coalition air raids have targeted Houthi sites in Al-Houban, which housed a meeting of their commanders, killing 17 of them.
