QASSIM: Prince Saud bin Salman, president of the Council of Cooperative Societies, and a delegation of the council recently met with Qassim Gov. Prince Faisal bin Mishaal.
The delegation, which included the council's honorary vice president, Mohammed Al-Hammad, discussed with the governor the need to raise awareness of the activities, programs and objectives of cooperative societies and their role in supporting the Kingdom's economy and society.
The delegation highlighted the work of cooperative societies and their contribution to sustainable development of the economy and society and their role in limiting inflation, exclusivity rights and integrating small businesses in the Saudi market. Prince Saud emphasized the importance and necessity of establishing active partnerships within the frame of the cooperative works which in turn will bring benefits to the national economy and society.
He also stressed the importance of encouraging both private and public sectors to get involved in cooperative work in response to the directives and royal decrees issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
During the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Council of Qassim region and the Council of Cooperative Societies.
Al-Hammad said the delegation would be visiting a number of provincial governors and ministers to activate the role of cooperatives in order to achieve the desired goals.
