JEDDAH: In a statement released by the US Embassy in Yemen, American and other Western ambassadors praised the Kingdom’s efforts to host the Pacification Committee, which works to maintain the cease-fire in Yemen. A group of ambassadors urged the parties to the Yemeni conflict to help UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed's efforts to resolve the conflict as soon as possible and pledged to provide all the necessary support to the UN’s search for a way to end the conflict.
Yemeni Deputy Prince Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Yemeni government negotiating delegation Abdullah Al-Mekhalfi announced moving the delegation headquarters from Kuwait to Dhahran in Saudi Arabia and stressed that peace cannot happen except in accordance with the main terms of reference, which are agreements so far and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
He said in a series of Tweets on Thursday that the “DCC has been transferred to Dhahran in the Kingdom to oversee the cease-fire and there is mutual agreement, starting on Thursday.”
“Peace will be according to three references, to withdraw, to hand over arms and restore the state first,” he tweeted.
“Coup parties should return to their leaders and inform them of the world’s message that there is no getting out of the commitment to these references and escalating rhetoric will not work.”
