India’s wrong message

The actions being initiated against world renowned preacher Dr. Zakir Naik by the Indian authority has diminished the image of the country as being one of the most populous democratic and secular countries.
Those who have read or listened to Dr. Zakir’s speeches have never become enemy to other religion. Rather he has preached the people, both Muslims and non-Muslims, to be tolerant and to respect each other. All through his life he has explained the peaceful message of Islam, as also he highlighted the positive aspects of other religions.
He has never insulted or said anything adverse against any religion. He has an Islamic training and this is not expected of him to say anything against other faiths. He has only clarified those issues that non-Muslims find it handy to distort. Never ever people of other faiths could find any ground to give any argument to counter Zakir’s point, or come up with their any argument in defense of their viewpoints.
His speeches and talks are based on Islamic teachings and also what he says about other faiths are based on references from the scriptures of other faiths. Since Islam is itself the most perfect religion in the world, it is not possbile that any preacher or Islamic scholar would say something antagonistic.
I hope all those whether Muslims or else, will take to social media and other means of mainstream media to support Zakir and counter the wily campaign being launched against the scholar. — Rafiq Uz Zaman, By email
