Once again France became the victim of a terrorist attack. This time around the terrorist chose a completely different way to instill fear among the masses. The attack in Nice, France showed that nobody is safe anywhere.
The innocent people who were killed in the terror attack were only celebrating their national day.
I fail to understand as to what these insane people (the terrorists) want to achieve. Their actions are in sharp contrast with the true teachings of Islam. Our religion does not sanction the killing of innocent people.
These attacks are only helping anti-Islam elements in the West. In the aftermath of every terrorist attack carried out in the name of religion, we witness a rise in Islamophobic statements issued by western politicians.
It seems that certain powers are trying to engineer a clash of civilizations. I urge the westerners to understand that we all are the victims of terrorism. These terrorists who are using the name of Islam are also targeting Muslims. Recently, Saudi Arabia was targeted. These terrorists did not even spare the holy city of our Prophet (peace be upon him).
These terrorists don’t belong to any faith or ideology. They merely use Islamic terminologies but they have nothing to do with Islam. The world should differentiate between Islam and the deviant ideology these terrorists follow.
I urge all western media outlets to refrain from using the term “Islamic terrorism.” Terrorism has no religion. In the end I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the victims of Nice attack. — Reenad Shaik, Riyadh
