JEDDAH: The head of the Saudi Commission of Tourism and National Heritage in Makkah, Mohammad Al-Omari, said that the commission has penalized 10 accommodation establishments for SR300,000, most of which were for providing tourism services without a license.
He said the minimum penalty for a violation is SR30,000 and can reach to SR100,000 and then closure of the establishment.
He said the commission in Jeddah registered violations in a number of accommodation facilities in the area which were not applying regulations of the new tourism law and its executive lists, which started on June 5 and are related to greater inspections, fines and treatment, as well as penalties and fines.
He said in a statement on Monday that the issuance of the fines are the result of inspections during Ramadan and through the Eid by the commission’s branch.
