JEDDAH: Security authorities here arrested a five-member gang that were said to have been involved in stealing a number of cars in different Jeddah districts.
The gang members reportedly contacted owners of the stolen cars asking them to pay certain funds to have their cars returned.
Meanwhile, Media Spokesman of the Makkah Police Col. Ati bin Attiyah Al-Qurashi said the Jeddah Police Center had earlier received a number of car-theft reports.
The Investigation and Criminal Research Unit of the Makkah Police managed to arrest the gang members in different districts of Jeddah, and have referred them to the appropriate authorities, he said.
Col. Al-Qurashi advised car owners to give more attention to their cars and make sure the engine is switched off upon leaving their vehicles.
