MADINAH: Over 100 employees at the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Qur’an are facing the problem of delayed pay and job insecurity.
A video clip has emerged showing a meeting between Mohammad Al-Ofi, secretary general of the complex, and employee representatives at his office.
Five hundred workers have suspended work so far pressing for their demands.
They want the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to take complete control of the complex and put the employees on the ministry payroll.
They believe it will give them job security and solve other issues.
They said that if solutions are not found immediately, production would be affected.
Some employees of various departments suspended work due to late pay over several months and unfulfilled promises.
When they asked for the reasons, relevant authorities gave them no response, says a report.
They demanded a committee be formed by the ministry to study the situation and ensure the timely payment of salaries.
