Pak-Afghan ties

This is with reference to the article “The trust deficit” (Aug. 1) by Muhammad Waqas. It saddens me to hear anti-Pakistan rhetoric from Afghan officials. They are openly playing in the hands of anti-Pakistan forces. They appear to have completely forgotten the services of Pakistan. Islamabad should revisit its policies toward Afghanistan and Afghans.
Pakistan provided the Afghans fleeing from Soviet-Afghan war with shelter in its major cities and allowed them to settle in the country without any problems. At present, a large number of Afghan nationals are running successful and large business entities across the country and they don’t face any harassment or discrimination at the government or public levels.
Pakistan should make arrangements for the repatriation of all Afghan refugees to their home country without delay. Action should also be initiated against all those Afghans who have now illegally acquired Pakistani nationality. Afghanistan should fend for itself. Why should Pakistan bear the burden of refugees when Afghanistan is no longer under occupation?
