DAMMAM: In a daylight robbery, two men opened fire at three money transfer staff, injuring two of them, and fled after snatching an unspecified amount of cash from their vehicle.
The incident happened near an ATM kiosk in Al-Nabeiah district of Qatif on Sunday morning. The injured staff were admitted to a nearby hospital.
The Eastern Province police said that Qatif security forces received information about the incident, following which they rushed to the spot. The money transfer staff had gone to feed money into the ATM, they said.
The staff did not comply with instructions related to money transfer operations, the police said.
Qatar has witnessed similar attacks in the past five years, resulting in casualties, including the infamous armed robbery of Sihat, which resulted in the death of two security men.
