This is with reference to the report “Nearly 50 million children ‘uprooted’ worldwide: UNICEF.” (Sept. 8)
The treatment being meted out to the innocent children worldwide is inappropriate. The world needs to answer as what offense these hapless souls are being punished for.
I wonder how can they — whether militants or state terrorists like Bashar Assad and Benjamin Netanyahu — inflict pain on the children through their blatant bombings and constant persecution. The matter needs an immediate global attention to protect children from any further abuse, as also to secure a productive life for those 50 million minors.
These wretched children, like any other child, cannot be deprived of such fundamental rights as the right to shelter, right to life, right to food, and various other rights, which they are presently deprived of. — Taha Bin Tasneem, Jubail
