JEDDAH: A 20-meter-long and two-meter high mural at the Jeddah International Center for Exhibitions and Conferences is a reflection of the feelings of 500 Saudi youths toward the nation and their vision.

Caricatures and drawings of people, famous places, cultural symbols and beautiful moments of the 36th Jeddah Festival are all summed up in the mural, which is the largest mural of Jeddah, said the organizers.

Professional artist Iyad Hamad Ahmed Dahlawi, who is the person behind the idea, and Milsaa Ghassan Beiruti, a student at the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University, said the aim of the mural was to bring out the skills and talent of the young population.

Dahlawi thanked the organizers of the Jeddah Festival for encouraging them for this kind of work and said “it will be a turning point for Jeddah to be a city of festivals throughout the year.”

He said the mural let the youth express the cheer and joy they have during holidays, through a range of artistic works highlighting the culture and solidarity with the homeland.

Dahlawi said the participants have a huge potential of creativity and if they get chance, they can do wonders. The mural reflects the thinking, emotions and creativity of the young, who need support, he said.

“We helped all the youth to participate in this activity, which will definitely highlight their ways of thinking and vision.”

Beiruti said the aim of making this beautiful mural was to represent the beauty of the Jeddah Festival, happiness, feelings and joy of Eid and holidays through.

She said the drawing of different figures gave the youths an opportunity to express their vision and feelings.
