ATLANTA, Georgia: Veteran Pakistani singer Alamgir has successfully undergone kidney removal surgery on Wednesday, said his wife in a Facebook post from his account: “With all your prayers and well wishes, the surgery went well, but he is still in ICU. Keep prayiing. Thank you for all of the support.”

The singer, who has been suffering from polycystic kidneys for years now, had posted a picture of himself in the operation theater at Atlanta’s Emory Hospital before the surgery.

The kidney removal is a preliminary procedure for his kidney transplant, which he told Dawn.com, has been tentatively scheduled for next year.
