A teenage Emirati boy Saeed Mohammed Hamad Fahad Al-Muhairi caught wide attention at a landscape summit that recently concluded in Abu Dhabi.
Al-Muhairi, a class nine student at Abu Dhabi’s Elite Private School, was offering free saplings of a variety of palm trees at the Middle East Smart Landscape Summit, where over 400 industry executives and government officials gathered to discuss the latest trends.
“We want to see a green country and we would like to work for it. We are ready to distribute palm saplings free of cost for the UAE residents through the Abu Dhabi Municipality,” said his father Mohammed Hamad Fahad Al-Muhairi.
Industry experts and suppliers discussed solutions for creating world-class landscapes across the two-day summit that was held in Jumeirah at the Etihad Towers.
The event saw presentations from regional and international experts on a range of topics concerning landscape design, irrigation, plant selection, and community facilities and planning with a focus on sustainability.
“We have bismarckia, Wax palm, Washingtonia, Fox-tail and Fish-tail palm trees. We have been working for this project over five years,” Al-Muhairi said.
The UAE Minister of Environment and Water, Dr. Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad, Khalifa Al-Mazrouie, General Manager of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City (ADM) and Rashid Al-Falasi, Director of Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at ADM, were the top dignitaries who attended the event.
