It is heartbreaking to know that a four-year-old girl was killed in an accident. It is tragic and guts you. If it is true it is appalling that the medical services took the actress to the hospital and ignored the child.

That film actress Hema Malini was in the other car is mutually exclusive from the tragedy and it is very unpleasant and unfair to read about the twisted way in which the car accident is being projected.

I read one piece in the Indian media about how they are talking about Hema and not the unknown girl. How many of you remember the name of the driver when Princess Di died. Don’t be pious and hypocritical. How many of us would have read a single para about a child killed in a road tragedy, huh… by using the star’s name there is some modicum of attention.

At least there might be an investigation into the charge of favoritism.

But to pre-empt justice with this new vigilante mindset is scary. She wasn’t driving. She wasn’t drunk. She has been badly hurt. The statements of both drivers and an official investigation is needed.

Above all, since there is no police report on who was at fault you cannot accuse people because they sit in a Mercedes.

This whole ‘foreign’ car syndrome is out of hand. We are hounding innocent people without cause.

The way some of them are going on you would think Hema Malini got into the car and planned the accident. She is taking care of the family who lost their child, she doesn’t have to by law. Good for her.

Also, if the police and ambulance services were star struck, don’t blame her. We are an idiot people when it comes to venerating celluloid heroes and heroines. The majority of us would stand to watch these pygmies pass our streets, stretching out to touch them, more’s the pity. If the medical staff reacted wrongly they should be severely punished ... not Hema Malini. That is the cruel travesty. But whatever it is, you can’t target her as the accused.

Sometimes you get the feeling that beneath the surface we are a seeing a social tectonic upheaval based on the rich and the poor and a rage that has no boundaries.

If we had to label the mode I’d say destructive and petty.
