The Bollyood-cricket connect is loud and clear. But in the upcoming pageant, we will miss some drama!

The ICC World Cup kicks off in a day. And, it looks like we will not be able to get an on-ground peek into the cricket-Bollywood love saga. We hear that a certain B-town sultry actress will go missing from the gentleman’s game.

It was a routine affair, to spot Anushka Sharma at the VIP stands during India’s cricket matches. And, watching her cheer for her beau Virat Kohli and blush whenever he blew kisses in her direction after a flashy knock, was normal. Unfortunately, this will be missing in the upcoming cricket World Cup in Australia — at least for a month or so.

A source says, “Anushka has already committed herself to the promotions of her film - ‘NH10’ for one month. Apart from that, as the producer, she also has to look after post-production work. So, it’s obvious that she will not be able to fly in and out of the country too often.”

India will take on Pakistan in the World Cup on Feb. 15. Anushka’s film releases on March 6. Another source told to Mid-day “Anushka has been held responsible for Virat’s poor form. So, when he bounced back with back-to-back centuries, he publicly declared his love for her by blowing kisses in her direction. Then many started considering her his ‘lady luck’. But, it has been said that she will be busy for the next month, Virat will have to hold back his kisses.”

Recently, Anushka’s cricketer boyfriend Virat Kohli may have been the butt of jokes during the controversial comedy show ‘AIB Roast’ but the actress feels such humor should not be taken seriously. “The way I look at it, I think it was in good humor, not meant to be taken very seriously. This is my opinion and someone else may have a different opinion about it — that is the beauty of living in a democratic setup,” she asserted. It sure seems like she doesn’t want to fan unnecessary controversies. Rather, she chose to concentrate on her upcoming films.

In fact, in 2015, you won’t see the ‘PK’ girl in chirpy, effervescent roles. She ditches those glam-doll looks and has taken a new route instead! This year, she’ll play a jazz singer (in Bombay Velvet), a gutsy wife in a thriller (NH10) and the lead in what’s billed as a mature love story (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil). All these are roles which are nowhere close to her previous ones.

As per an insider, her role in ‘NH 10’ is of a feisty girl, you have never seen before. She plays a wife whose husband gets into trouble, when their Rajasthan road trip goes wrong.

Indeed, what has this quintessential Yash Raj girl embarked on? The big change is all part of her master plan. “I don’t want to do films that people watch and then forget the next morning,” she said in a recent interview, when the stark difference in her screen avatar popped up. “I must have something to give to the film. I don’t just want my name in the credits. I want to contribute. As long as that is happening, I am okay with making choices that might not be tried and tested.”

Well, the actress seems to be crystal-clear about her career path. So, we can’t just wait and watch ... bring them on ... jab tak hai jaan!
