I strongly believe that Education Minister Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will revolutionize the education system in the Kingdom. He has, undoubtedly, been an achiever throughout his career. His appointed as the education minister is a good omen for the Kingdom. It is true that Saudi Arabia allocates huge funds for this sector and attaches great importance to education. Unfortunately, the results have so far not been very encouraging. There are many factors behind the dismal performance of the education sector.

The authorities must study the problem where carefully and devise a strategy to address the issues hampering the growth of the education sector. It is not possible for any country to prosper without a proper education system. Localization of jobs is not the answer to the problem. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal must take action against corrupt officials in the education department and hire highly qualified educationists to review the current curriculum and make it in line with the requirements of today’s world.

In addition to the change in the curricula, there is a need for changing teaching techniques as well. All measures should be taken to do away with the culture of rote learning. This is a menace plaguing almost all the Third World countries. In case of Saudi Arabia, funds or resources is not an issue. In such a situation, it is sad to see the poor performance of the education sector in the Kingdom. I hope under Prince Khaled Al-Faisal we will witness a drastic change in the education sector for the better.
