I fully agree with the letter written by Saif Ul Islam Farooqi (Sept. 17) and hope that the newly elected members of the IISR management committee will do their level best to improve the standard of education at the IISR.

I would like to highlight an important issue that needs urgent attention. It seems that students of higher standards — 10th, 11th and 12th — are left on their own to study and prepare for their examinations themselves as classes are not held regularly and many teachers ask them to study at homes and if they do take classes instead of giving lectures they remain busy doing their own work. These are very important school years and need extra care but unfortunately the teachers don’t seem to understand the importance of these classes.

At the IISR’s girls’ section, sports activities have come to a standstill. In the previous school building, there were ample facilities for games etc. Physical training and sports activities are very important for health and intrapersonal growth. The authorities should ensure holding of such events and provision of extracurricular facilities.
