This has reference to the article “Do Muslims really understand Islam?” by Abdulateef Al-Mulhim. We need more of such self-critical discussions to take place at all levels of Muslim gatherings.

Violence and intolerance are not something only unique about Muslims or Muslim countries. The history of Ireland and Britain is fraught with incidents of violence, although it is not called Christian extremism.

In India, there is a big religious and caste divide and violence resulting from this divide is quite common. As far as Buddhists are concerned, they are defying their basic religious teaching of nonviolence as they are annihilating Muslims in Myanmar, Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka. Hamas and Fatah are fighting each other in Palestine and the list can go on. We human beings are basically violent.
