I agree with the views expressed by Saad Al-Dosari in his article “Be open to differences” (Feb. 3). The writer always comes up with a new idea and his analysis is spot on. It is heartening to note that young Saudis think differently and their world views are not as myopic as their predecessors. We are living in a global village and without accepting and respecting differences; a country cannot prosper in the true sense. Undoubtedly, the Saudi society due to the huge influx of expatriates from across the globe has been diversified. Unfortunately, many in the society are still not ready to accept this diversity and wish to continue with their myopic views.

This is not such a healthy approach. I wish the younger generation of Saudis started thinking like the writers. This approach will only help the Kingdom in the long run. Other expatriates and young Saudis will eventually replace the current lot of the expatriates but the change in views will only help Saudi Arabia become a modern country compatible with the requirements of today’s world.
