Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka’s wicket keeper–batsman completed 12,000 runs (12,422) for Sri Lanka in ODIs during his knock of 67 in the Asia Cup opener against Pakistan in Bangladesh. He is the second Sri Lankan batsman to have accomplished this feat — the first being Sanath Jayasuriya.

Sri Lanka came out on top, courtesy the run-machine Kumar Sangakkara, playing against India and this time with a century. Thus Sri Lanka has already qualified for the final of Asia Cup. We heard an over enthusiastic lot of Sri Lankan cricket fans screaming “Sanga is Lanka and Lanka is Sanga” while the match against India was in progress. I strongly believe that this is an appropriate slogan. We wish this decent sportsman all the best. Keep entertaining Sanga!
