This is with reference to the article “Turkey: Playing dirty will serve none” (Feb.8) by Harun Yahya. It is so unfortunate that such negative terms are used to describe the state of affairs of this pre-dominantly Muslim region. It is sad but true. I really feel depressed when I read about unnecessary political wrangling and conspiracies to bring down governments. Our leaders are selfish and they are least bothered about the welfare of their people.

I am from Pakistan, which is not a Middle East country. As a Pakistani, I must say that my country is also faced with similar issues.

The only solution to all these problems is to follow the teachings of Islam. Our religious scholars can play a crucial role in creating awareness among the masses. They must make good use of the pulpit and try to educate the people. Most of the time (at least in Pakistan), these sacred pulpits are used to spread hatred against the adherents of the opposing schools of thought. I urge all the scholars to rise to the occasion and play their due roles to eradicate social ills.
