I congratulate Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi for such a well-written and balanced article regarding Ukraine crisis.

“Tyrants and their self-delusion” (Arab News, March 5) sheds light on the plight of people under the yoke of a dictatorial regime as also it underlines fact that the real power exists in the hand of the people that seem to be so weak, dumb and fragile. When it suits them, these people turn the tables and punish the tyrants who live in the dream castle.

The rude awakening baffles the tyrant, and like a diminishing candle, which flutters before it is put out, he too shows his power in the form of tyranny before he is finally brought to justice. Al-Harthi is right when he says: “One might wonder why leaders risk their lives by insisting on challenging people’s right to have just and democratic systems. The simple answer is absolute power has blinded them.”

The regimes and the leaders all over the world must not forget that there is always a day of reckoning. Al-Harthi has rightly sided with the poor and the voiceless.
