In the wake of the tragic death of young Lama, uncovered wells have, undoubtedly, become a serious source of concerns for everyone across the Kingdom. This is an important issue, as we all know that there are thousands of unprotected wells in the country and many are located at some picnic spots making it the situation all the more dangerous.

I am sure the authorities must be doing their level best to avoid repetition of another tragedy. In addition to the government efforts, we must also be very careful and should report to the authorities if we spot any unprotected well. We must join hands with the authorities in their efforts to deal with this crucial issue. I would also like to add that many of these unprotected wells might be in use. Instead of closing them, fall protection thresholds be constructed around those wells. Warnings should also be issued to owners of such wells and if they don’t comply with the government orders, heavy fines should be imposed on such people.

As a matter of fact, this issue is of national importance. I am confident that the authorities will leave no stone unturned in dealing with this issue.
