Eastern Province Gov. Prince Mohammed bin Fahd approved an agreement between Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University (PMU) and the University of Central Florida (UCF). The governor and the chairman of the board of trustees at PMU patronized the collaboration for joint research and strategic study programs and applauded the efforts of the PMU administration.
“PMU fulfills the needs of society by offering modern education. New collaborations with reputable institutions of higher learning for research programs will provide solutions for problems facing society,” he said, adding that the move has strengthened Saudi-American relations.
“PMU must encourage academic research and welcome reputable institutions from various parts of the world to collaborate for research and academic programs. It is important to build global presence of a university that conducts research activities,” he said.
PMU Rector Dr. Issa Al-Ansari and UCF President Dr. John C. Hitt signed the agreement. “It is another step by PMU to strengthen its position internationally,” said Dr. Al-Ansari after signing the agreement.
An important aspect of this agreement is to establish Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Program for Research and Strategic Studies at the University of Central Florida. It will attract researchers to involve in specialist academic researches with scientific spirit, said Dr. Al-Ansari.
“PMU attaches great importance to exchange of experiences in the context of its policy to increase global partnerships,” he said, pointing out that other aspects of the agreement include joint organization of seminars, conferences, panel discussions and workshops.
UCF delegates said that the World Wide Web has narrowed the distances. “Henceforth, classrooms of PMU and UCF will have presence of experts ready to solve problems through technological advancements,” they said. “We propose an annual forum to discuss multiple topics of global importance, conduct joint researches by applying modern tools and to focus on academic exchange programs that involve faculty and students.”
Scholarship schemes are also proposed for meritorious students. Administrative and faculty members from PMU and UCF would be council of advisers to supervise programs and do the annual follow-ups.
Both universities are well-prepared and equipped with modern technologies to implement joint activities involving the virtual online participation of faculty and students in a single classroom concept.
