The Riyadh Municipality has barred 137 expatriate workers in food outlets from continuing in their work because of violation of mandatory health regulations.

The municipal inspectors discovered the violations during inspections of a number of eateries in the capital.

The inspectors also seized 337 kg of meat, fish and poultry which did not provide any information about their source, besides being unfit for human consumption. It was also found that 426 utensils were used without observing any hygienic standard.

During inspections of 215 establishments, 938 violations were registered and 47 businesses were shut down because of serious violation of hygiene, a local daily reported.
