A total of 16 candidates are in the run for the Sept. 14 election to the management committee of the International Indian School (IISR) in Riyadh.

IISR had announced the schedule and eligibility criteria for candidates and voters for the election in June.

The list of candidates running for election was announced Monday.

IISR Principal and election commissioner, Shaukat Parwez, told Arab News that the list of candidates included Dilshad Ahmad (Uttar Pradesh), Syed Abdul Khader (Andhra Pradesh), Ibrahim Rahmatullah (Tamil Nadu), Hamsa Kutty Naseer (Kerala), Syed Aftab Ali Nizami (Delhi), Sultan Mazharuddin (Andhra Pradesh), Mohammad Firoz Rahman (Bihar), Misbahul Arfin (Uttar Pradesh), Shaikh Aqueel Ahmad (Maharashtra), Roji Mathew (Kerala), Shafi Ahmad Sattar (Karnataka), Ommar Niaz (Kerala), S H A Hyder Ali (Tamil Nadu), Saiful Islam (Andhra Pradesh), Mohammed Nasiruddin (Andhra Pradesh) and Anjar Ahmad Khan (Maharashtra).

“Voting will take place on Sept. 14 at the boys' school campus between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.,” he said, adding that vote-counting would be taken up the same day.

Those who have cleared first quarter fees are included among eligible voters and candidate lists as per a circular issued to parents.

Founded in October 1982, the IISR is one of the largest schools in the Kingdom, with 10,000 students and 500 teachers. This English medium school is run separately for boys and girls.

The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi, India, and is licensed under the Ministry of Education.
