The Ministry of Trade and Industry closed down two warehouses in Riyadh and Jeddah for holding large quantities of fake spare parts and tire-related equipment.

More than 172,000 items were confiscated. These quantities were immediately seized and the owner, an expatriate, was taken in for investigation ahead of referring the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.

The ministry received information about the existence of a warehouse in southern Riyadh that specializes in storing and marketing fake spare parts, in addition to keeping tools related to fixing tires.

Monitoring teams at the ministry were then sent to the location to investigate.

Upon searching the warehouse in Riyadh, another team went to a similar warehouse in Jeddah that belonged to the same owner. Large quantities of fake spare parts were found and confiscated. The warehouse was closed and regulatory procedures were applied.

Confiscated items included more than 26,320 air pumps for car tires, 13,900 air filters, 11,100 internal patches and 5,800 lubricating heads.
